TTI Monthly Italian Food Round up -January

As you probably know, I’m a little obsessed when it comes to Italian food. I spend hours searching the internet, flicking through the weekend papers and my cookbook collection to feed my obsession. So I have decided to collect all my findings for you to save you guys from doing it yourself. Here is my first monthly Italian food round up, collecting all the best articles and media out there on the internet in one place, including recipes, travel, restaurant openings and much much more!

Recipes

  • Diana Henry writes an excellent and beautifully concise article on the north-western Italian region, Piedmont in the Telegraph. She also share 3 delicious Piedmontese recipes for you to try at home.

Diane Henry on Piedmont and its regional cooking

Some Italian regional cooking is unintentionally vegan. There are so many recipes which are suitable for those who choose the vegan way of life. Here Rachel Roddy shares these four bean based recipes for the Guardian that will stifle those carnivore cravings.

While pasta increases to rise in popularity in everyday home cooking, another Italian staple, Gnocchi, soft, small round dumplings have been slightly forgotten. Here are a couple of great articles that I found sharing the love for these little dumplings.

At Great Italian chefs, they dedicate a whole article on how gnocchi is made differently across Italy using various ingredients.

  • If you’re planning a trip to Rome, head to the Independent’s article on where to eat. Not only does it list the best hotspots of where you will be able to eat the most traditional of Roman dishes, but you will also be avoiding all the  crazy tourist traps and eat at places where the locals enjoy their own meals.

If this is the year you have decided to take a little foodie trip to Italy, have a read of Olive magazine’s article on the best Italian food trips to take in 2018. Recommendations include the Maremma in Tuscany and a cookery school in Bologna
